Bio

Joe DellaRocca has more than three decades of coaching experience at the college, high school, and travel ball levels. Prior to being named the Head Coach at Indian River State College, he served as both a part-time and full-time Assistant Coach at Indian River since 2004.

During his first stint with the team from 2004–2006, Indian River won over 150 games, including three Southern Conference titles, two NJCAA Region 8A Championships, two FSCAA State Championships, two third-place finishes, and a 2005 runner-up finish at the NJCAA World Series. Coach DellaRocca was also part of the 2006 NFCA Southern Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

During Coach DellaRocca’s tenure as a full-time Assistant Coach (2023–2025), the team compiled a record of 147–32. Indian River claimed both the FCCAA Florida State and NJCAA Division I National Championships in 2024 and was wire-to-wire top five in the national rankings throughout the 2025 season.

Coach DellaRocca manages and oversees the team’s offensive and defensive game plans, strategies, play calling, and coordinates practice plans, cage prep, etc. Known for his aggressive coaching style, Indian River led the nation in stolen bases with 268 during the 2023 season and again in 2024 with 342 thefts. The team has improved in every offensive category over the previous three seasons under his direction. Coach DellaRocca also continues to coordinate player recruitment for Indian River and heads up the program’s instructional, advanced, and prospect camps.

As a high school head coach, his teams at William T. Dwyer and Park Vista won numerous district and regional titles, made four FHSAA State Final Four appearances, and won the 2019 FHSAA Class 9A State Championship. He was named Sun Sentinel All-Area and Palm Beach Conference Coach of the Year multiple times and received the Miracle Sports Coach of the Year honor in 2019.

Coach DellaRocca also founded Crossfire Softball (2007), an independent and faith-based showcase travel program, with player participation and representation from several counties throughout South Florida. Crossfire has helped prepare and promote player prospects and has assisted over 100 student-athletes in gaining scholarship opportunities at colleges and universities throughout the country. In 2016, Crossfire was the ASA 16U National Runner-Up. Along with stints in the Gold Coast Hurricanes organization, his teams have collectively earned several top-20 finishes at ASA, Triple Crown, and other premier championship events. He played competitive softball for over a decade and has officiated both slow- and fast-pitch softball for over 20 years.

Coach DellaRocca graduated from Indian River with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and has owned and operated his family’s waste management business in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast since 2005. He also organizes and assists with community outreach and Christian fellowship groups and currently resides in Port St. Lucie, FL.
