Santa Fe Claims Game One as Nightfall Suspends Game Two

GAINESVILLE, FL - Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Santa Fe College was able to get it done at the plate in their 3–2 victory over Indian River in game one of the doubleheader.

Wilkinson started the game for The River and was dominant, recording 16 outs for the team.

Indian River was right in it until Santa Fe College doubled in the fifth inning, making the score 3–2.

The River got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alvey grounded into a fielder's choice and Santa Fe College committed an error, each scoring one run.

Mancillas earned the win for Santa Fe College. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Wilkinson led things off in the circle for Indian River. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and three runs over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two.

Terito led The River with one run batted in. Piar set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Indian River with two hits in three at-bats.

In game two of the doubleheader, the contest was halted due to darkness. The game will be resumed at a later date, picking up in the sixth inning with the score tied 2–2.
