The River Falls Short in Thrilling Match Against the Hawks
TAMPA, FL- The recent showdown between Indian River State College and Hillsborough Community College was a nail-biter from start to finish, ending in a close score that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The game started with the Hawks gaining an 18-point lead, surging ahead 20-2. The River used that 18-point deficit as motivation, steadily chipping away at Hillsborough's lead. By halftime, Hillsborough still held a commanding advantage with a score of 46-34 against Indian River.
Despite the uphill battle, The River mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, showcasing their resilience and skill. They closed the gap and stayed neck-and-neck with the Hawks, eventually tying the game at 69-69 in the final minute. However, in the closing seconds, an unfortunate foul led to Hillsborough earning free throws that secured their victory. The Hawks edged out The River with a final score of 71-69.
Indian River now holds a 7-11 overall record and remains 0-4 in conference play, but their performance proves they have the fight to turn things around. They are looking to bounce back on Wednesday, January 22, when they take on St. Petersburg College on the road in St. Pete.
