Indian River falls to FSCJ in Annual Veteran Classic

FORT PIERCE, FL- In a hard-fought battle that saw a strong first half from both teams, Indian River State College (IRSC) fell to Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) with a 93-65 loss. At halftime, IRSC trailed by just five points, with the scoreboard reading 41-36 in favor of FSCJ. The Pioneers were within striking distance, largely due to a well-balanced offensive attack, but they struggled to find consistent rhythm on defense.

However, the second half was a different story. FSCJ came out firing, outscoring IRSC 52-29 in the final 20 minutes. IRSC tried to match FSCJ's intensity as the manta rays pushed the pace, made timely shots, and dominated the boards. FSCJ's depth was evident, with multiple players stepping up offensively, while the Pioneers struggled to find scoring solutions.

Player Stats:

  • Mason Brown finished the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.
  • Amari Williams contributed 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist.
  • Emmanuel Akot chipped in 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
  • Marius Canery added 6 points.

Ultimately, the game results in a 93-65 win for FSCJ. IRSC looks to bounce back and regroup as they move forward in the season. They will next face Palm Beach State College on November 19 in Lake Worth, FL.
