Indian River Explodes for 19 Hits in 15–4 Win Over Santa Fe
GAINESVILLE, FL - Jacob Souza collected four hits in six at-bats as Indian River defeated Santa Fe 15–4 on Wednesday. Souza singled in the eighth inning, doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and added another single in the seventh.
Indian River was the first to get on the board in the third inning when Cam Baker singled to score a run.
Javi Miranda earned the win for Indian River. The right-hander surrendered eight hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Clanton started on the mound for Santa Fe, giving up six hits and four runs over three innings while striking out two and walking one. Anthony Linares collected the save.
Indian River's offense racked up 19 hits in the game. Jacob Souza, Niko Benested, and Finn Duran each collected four hits to lead the lineup. Indian River also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Baker and Robert Kramer leading the team with two free passes each.
Santa Fe totaled nine hits in the game. No. 9 hitter Calise showed the depth of the lineup by going 3-for-3. Carhell, Montanez, and Lee each drove in a run, while Chase collected two hits in four at-bats. Santa Fe was clean defensively, turning two double plays and committing no errors, with Chase leading the team with 12 chances in the field.
Indian River improves to 11-13-1 on the season and 4-9 in Citrus Conference play. Santa Fe will head down to Mike Easom Field Thursday for a doubleheader as Indian River looks to win their first series of the year.
