For the second year in a row the Indian River women's basketball program was ranked among the top 25 academic teams in the nation by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association).
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA and community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPA's (grade point averages) inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
Indian River women's basketball program has increasingly raised the bar in their academic performance within their program over the past several years. This year they topped last years bench mark moment of a team GPA of 3.01 with a combined 3.11.
"We are so proud of our young ladies commitment to their academics and the culture that we have worked so hard to establish" said head coach Diana Couch. "Every year our current team works to surpass the prior teams GPA, it is something that has just woven itself into our program. Being a student-athlete is demanding and time consuming, these young ladies did such a great job of prioritizes and managing their time to accomplish this national recogniztion. As a program we would like to thank those that work in the ASC learning lab, the faculty and staff that worked to support our young ladies as they diligently worked to stay on top of their academics and also our athletic department academic coordinators for being so involved in each individual student-athletes academic progress throughout the year."
